Common questions
Is my data private?
Yes — completely. Everything you write stays on your device. The Keeping collects no data, makes no network connections, and runs no analytics or tracking. There’s no account and no cloud. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Does it sync between my devices?
Not in this version. The Keeping is offline and on-device by design, so your entries live on the iPhone where you wrote them. Optional iCloud sync is planned for a future update — and if it arrives, it will be clearly optional and off by default, so the private, offline experience always remains the default.
Which media types can I keep?
Four: books, films, TV shows, and podcasts — all in one searchable archive. Podcasts are a first-class part of The Keeping, not an afterthought, which is something most journals leave out.
How do I export my entries?
You can export your archive from within the app, so your writing is always yours to take with you and keep a copy of. Because everything is stored locally, exporting is how you back up or move your entries on your own terms.
How much does it cost?
The Keeping is free, and the core of it — writing, rating, tagging, and searching your entries — will always be free. Some additional features may be offered later, but keeping and finding what your media meant to you stays free.
Is there an Android or web version?
The Keeping is built for iPhone for now. If that changes, it’ll be announced here.
